About Cooperatives

A cooperative is an independent group that is made up of individuals who voluntarily organize to provide themselves and their families with the services they need.

  • Business enterprise
  • Owned by its member-patrons
  • Provides goods and/or services
  • Returns net savings as patronage refunds, products or services to its members

“Not for profit, but for people.”

Cooperatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity.  In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
